What is Affiliate Marketing in simple language

WHAT IT IS?

Let's understand by some examples. 

There are 3 characters 

Ram Rohan and Manish 

Rohan has a website.  He writes about gadgets , reviews them, compare them , also tells about best gadgets, compare there features with other gadgets,  and also give best deals of gadgets to their website visitor and Rohan would like to make someextra money from his passion.  He can monetize by placing advertising on his website or by referring special offers from store to his website.

Ram is 2nd character . He likes to read Rohan website and Ram also buy a new gadgets from Rohan website. He regularly comes to Rohan website and read articles posted by Rohan.

Manish is third character. He has online store where he sells his product.  He wants new customer and more sales and he is out of ideas where to advertise.

So what happens Rohan decide to add a banner on his website with a link that send to Manish store . While reading Ram sees the banner , clicks on it and gets to Manish store. He place order,  pays for it and receive it shortly.  This way Manish got a new order and he rewards Rohan for recommending his store with a percentage of that sales value.  This is called affiliate marketing.  How does Manish know who sent Ram to his store ?

The link Rohan had on his website was a special link containing info about each of three 

ROHAN: THE AFFILIATE 

RAM: THE CUSTOMER 

MANISH:  THE ADVISTISER 

This type of links are called affiliate links and are obtained using atool that can track all this information.  Such tool is provided by affiliate platforms. Besides being a tool there is an ecosystem where affiliates and advertisers can connect and start working together easily. This type of platforms has thousands of affiliates that advertise online and make money.  Just Rohan they are site owners  , bloggers and web developers. They can choose thousands of online business just like Manish shop ? connect with others and use the tools to make money online 

 So in this way  all Rohan, Ram and Manish gets satisfied.
